Andrik Becht is a postdoctoral researcher at the Brain and Development research center of the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology at Leiden University. He received his master degrees in the research master "Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolescence" (DaSCA, cum laude) and the master Orthopedagogics (cum laude) at Utrecht University.
In his PhD project at Utrecht University, Andrik focused on the development of identity dynamics across adolescence and emerging adulthood, using daily identity assessments.
His current research is aimed at understanding identity development from both a neurobiological and contextual perspective (for instance, examining the role of parents and peers). Andrik also examines possible consequences of ongoing identity uncertainty in adolescence, to ultimately answer the question why some adolescents thrive whereas others don’t.
