Marjolein studied Orthopedagogiek (Clinical Child and Adolescent Studies) at Leiden University and received her master’s degree in 2015. For her thesis Marjolein participated in the PKU-COBESO study, obtained experience in neuropsychological research, and wrote her thesis about executive functioning in patients with phenylketonuria, a metabolic disease. As a research assistant at the Brain and Development lab Marjolein is responsible for all the organisational aspects of the Zelfbeeld project. Zelfbeeld is a new longitudinal fMRI study, which starts in February 2016. Furthermore, Marjolein works with youth with a mild intellectual disability and problem behaviors. Her interests are developmental psychology, cognitive research, and especially the “self-concept”.
